Schweitzer Rocks Day Camp
Summer 2022 for Kids Ages 6 - 10
You name it, we've got it. Nine fun filled weeks with highlights such as hiking, crafts, chairlift rides, swimming, climbing wall, trampoline jumper, and more! Cost for Adventure Camp is $250 per child, per week and includes transportation from the bottom of the mountain. ($225 for Schweitzer Winter Season Passholders.)
Each week will still have all the activities your campers have come to expect - jumping, climbing, riding the lift, hiking, swimming, etc as well as having a different theme for each week to keep it interesting and unique! Yes, camp is festive and exhausting and FUN! Keep this in mind as you plan for your kids. We want them to enjoy each and every day at camp and really, how many days can you spend at Disneyland before it starts to lose its magic? With that, please limit each camper to a max of three camp sessions so everyone can enjoy the fun! Thanks!

Camp sessions run Monday- Friday from 8am - 4pm. Includes transportation from the Red Barn parking lot.

WHAT HAPPENS AT SCHWEITZER CAMP?
Camp includes chairlift rides, swimming, rock climbing, trampoline jumper, hiking, and more!
What is a week at camp like?
Each week, campers can look forward to climbing the rock wall twice, the trampoline jumper twice, ride the lift at least twice, hiking, village games, a trip to the Cranky Jennings Sluice Box, swimming every day, a hot dog roast on Fridays and much more!
Is there transportation?
Yes! We will pick you up in a small Schweitzer bus at the Schweitzer Park and Ride at the base of the mountain at 8am and bring you back at 4pm.
What if I don’t know anybody there?
Everyone makes fast friends at Schweitzer Camp! You’ll have fun making new friends or you can always invite a friend to join you at camp!
Are all the kids together all day?
Most of the time, all the campers stay together. However, depending on activities we may divide into 2 groups; for example, if we are going on a hike one group may go on a long hike and one group may go on a shorter hike. One group may decide to make a craft and the other rides the chairlift. (You will make the choice which group you go with.)
What if I don’t know how to swim?
The pool complex has hot tubs and a shallow end you may enjoy. The pool is an hour glass shape with one side being shallow. Campers are only allowed in the deep end once they demonstrate adequate swimming skills. You can also bring a life vest if you want to. Swimming lessons will not be provided.
How many kids will be there?
Usually there are approximately 20 kids at camp and 3 camp counselors.
What if it rains?
Rain can happen, but there’s still plenty to do if it does! We won’t let it ruin our day. We may still go outside or we may choose to do indoor activities.
What about my safety?
Safety of campers is our number one priority! Here are some specifics:
* Covid: As information pertaining to COVID frequently changes, we will continue to assess and update our policies and procedures throughout the summer, ensuring that we are aligned with current local health district recommendations. Please check back as we get closer to summer camp for further details.
* Transportation: Campers are transported in a short bus. Our camp Manager and Counselor have commercial driver’s licenses. Daily safety checks are conducted on the camp vehicle.
* Chairlift rides: Smaller campers and nervous campers will ride with a camp counselor or other Schweitzer employee. A camp counselor will ride on the last chair so as to keep an eye on campers. Campers will use the safety bar.
* Hiking: Campers will be accompanied by a Schweitzer employee and will stay on designated trails. However, campers may be escorted to the sides of the trails during huckleberry picking.
* Food: Campers are served small snacks throughout the week. Some examples of food include granola bars, trail mix, and popcorn. Peanut allergies, and other allergies, are taken very seriously and are dealt with on a case by case basis.
* Swimming: The pool is an hour glass shape. The shallow end is 3ft and the deeper end is 6ft. Campers are required to pass a simple swim test in order to be allowed in the deeper end. Campers may also bring their own life jacket in order to explore the entire pool. Life jackets are not be provided. Camp counselors are not certified lifeguards or swim instructors, but have been educated in basic pool safety, incident prevention and rescue techniques by a Red Cross certified instructor.
* Sun Safety: It is requested that campers bring their own sunscreen, hats, and eye protection to camp with them. For the best protection, campers should apply sunscreen before leaving the house each morning. Campers are instructed to reapply sunscreen multiple times throughout each day including right before leaving for the pool.
* Certifications: Camp counselors are certified in American Red Cross First Aid and CPR or equivalent.
* Pick up: Anyone who picks up a camper may be asked to provide a code word. The code word for the week is given out to registrants the week before camp.
